Biography:

Joe began his working career at the age of 8 years old mowing lawns, shoveling snow and delivering papers for Suburban Boy Carriers in Bellwood, IL. At the age of 13 years old, his parents having consented to a work permit with his high school, he took a job with Guido’s Finer Foods. At Guido’s he started  as a bagger of groceries and gatherer of shopping carts gradually moving his way up the ladder to the point of managing the deli departments during summer vacations from school.  At the age of 20, he moved on to part-time deli work at Dominick’s Finer Foods. After college he spent one year as a claims adjuster with Hartford Insurance. At the age of 23 he entered law school at DePaul University School of Law. While in law school he tended bar at the Ardmore Lounge in Villa Park, Illinois. Upon graduation from law school and after taking the bar exam, he took a job with Jewel Company working in a small goods warehouse in Franklin Park, IL to pay the bills while awaiting bar exam results. Once notified that he had passed the bar exam, he started his own firm. In 1981 he met Vince Robertelli in a courtroom in DuPage County. Six months later they were partners and friends and continue to this date. Joe was also married in 1981 to Pam Torkelson and that partnership also continues to this date.
